What Books to Start This Weekend
There's something about winter time where it's cold, rainy, and quite dismal that makes me want to stay inside and do nothing but read. One of my top resolutions this year was to watch less TV and read more. As a young girl, I kid you not, I could read 100 books a year. 100! That's a ton of reading! Now that I'm an adult with a full time job, relationship, and personal business it's so easy to fall into the trap of endless Netflix and Hulu watching and not pick up a single book.
Y'all that is just so sad!
To reclaim my inner book nerd, I've promised myself that I'll read one book per month (more if I can!) and really start limiting the time I spend in front of the TV. There are so many benefits of limiting TV time and reading like:
- Better muscle memory
- Keeps your brain young
- Melts away stress
- Boosts your vocabulary
- Feel more connected to others
- and best of all, can help encourage your life goals! What a win!
So clearly there are some advantages to reading! I've listed some of the books that are on my must list but I'd love to know what's on yours? I've asked this already on Instagram and got an overwhelming amount of responses! It seems like I've got some fellow book worms out there!
One's I've Read (and loved!)
- Harry Potter and The Cursed Child
- Barbarian Days: A Surfing Life
- Thug Kitchen (hilarious and full of great recipes!)
- Dark Places (really all her books are fantastic)
2017's Must Read Books (recommend by you!):
- The Life Changing Magic of Tidying-Up (this one was recommended by Danielle of The Town Serif and she can't put it down!)
- The Girl on the Train
- Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
- The Compound Effect
- Paris for One and Other Short Stories
If there's one thing that makes reading a good book even better is by curling up in a big comfy sweater and drinking a cup of tea. This dress from Zaful has quickly become my "it's too cold let's stay indoors and read" outfit. Because yes, in the world of PMP, there's even an outfit for reading! Crazy, right?
What other books do you recommend for my growing book list? I'm really excited to see what other books you have to recommend! I'm terrible at recommending books because I love too many of them and I don't stick to just one genre of books. There's just too many interesting stories out there! Tell me all your favorites, must reads, what's even on your list in the comments below!
