My Essential Daily Blogging Tasks

My Daily Blogging Tasks Have you ever wondered what's going on in the 'behind-the-scenes' of Paper Meets Pearl, or really any blog? At lot goes into the day to day running of a blog and all the social media platforms we use to promote our product and connect with readers. So today I'm going to show you what my day to day looks like running PMP and helpful tips to help you accomplish more blogging tasks!

Emails

The first thing I do every morning is go through my emails and see what I've received from my clients. The majority of my emails are spam (gross) and lots of e-blasts from various sites I've signed up for. If you need some serious motivation by the way, check out Female Entrepreneur Association, it's the bomb.com! As I'm reading through everything, I like to sort things into folders (always keep a paper trail!) and start working on a list for the day.

Social Media

I spend a lot of my day working on social media. If it's not for the blog, it's for the various clients I have and I like to make sure things haven't happened overnight that could hurt their social presence and start looking into relevant articles for them to share. Most of my social media posts have been scheduled in advanced, but I really like taking the time to go through everything and retweet something that has caught my attention!

Blog Audit

Auditing your blog can be a scary place! Typically I run through mine a couple times a week but Monday's are always the worst for me because that's where a majority of the spam blog comments come through (#gross). Once I'm done checking out the site, I like to make sure things are scheduled properly and fix anything on those posts before they go live.

Comments

Reading comments has to be one of my favorite things to do, I love what everyone has to say! This a great time for me to keep connecting with all my readers and see where we can improve upon. Which, if you ever have a suggestion, send it my way!

Writing

Once a week, I essentially sit down and write out the bulk of my content. I do this with my social media clients as well. This has a process onto itself like planning, jotting down ideas, and actually writing the content (don't get me started on editing pictures!). As I finish writing posts, I like to go back later and see where I can make adjustments, fix any errors, and apply any graphics I've made to the article. Writing all my posts in one go also frees up time for other more pressing matters that may come through during the week.

Social Media Check-In

Throughout the day I like to go through Instagram and see what's going on and connect with followers. I also use this time to go through my favorite hashtags and see what great content is being published. Which by the way, #flashesofdelight is  one of the most inspiring hashtags on Instagram. So if you're ever struggling for content, that hashtag has inspired so much for me! Checking in on social media has been a great way to relieve my brain for a few minutes throughout the day and forget about work. Although I have to be careful not to stay on too long or I'll get sucked in!

Helpful Tips

If you're a new blogger or a veteran, we can always learn new tricks to keep our blogging game strong and our blogging tasks for the day to a small amount (a girl can dream, right?). Here's a quick list of helpful tips to make your day easier!

  • Try and schedule out posts where you can. Facebook has a great scheduler feature and there are various sites that'll now schedule your tweets, pins, and Instagram posts.
  • Set aside time each week to get into the nitty gritty of your blog. It can be daunting, but it's incredibly helpful to know what's going on!
  • Create your own schedule. Try and find one that works best for you and stick to it!
  • Find little moments throughout the day to unwind. Take a walk, look through social media, listen to some music and dance!
  • Don't compare yourself to other bloggers. You're doing what's right for you and on your own path, no one else's.
  • Remember your audience and who you're writing for - this is the best thing I can ever tell you.
  • And finally, remember that blogging is fun! If you ever feel overwhelmed, take a step back and re-evaluate what you can do better.

I hope you liked the little sneak peek into what it takes to be a blogger! Do you have any magical tricks to keep your day running smoothly? Tell me in the comments! I'd love to hear what you do during your day and how to make life easier!
