Spotlight On: Prospector Co.

Last month when we were in Hilton Head, P and I decided to make a short trip into Savannah, Georgia. I've never been to Savannah and have always wanted to see what all the fuss was about. It was truly a lovely city that was similar to Charleston and New Orleans, a perfectly Southern city. As we walked the main shopping area, popping into the occasional store and sipping on coffees, nothing had quite yet captured my attention. P was adamant that we buy one thing to commemorate our trip to Savannah and no, it couldn't be a magnet. I'm still riding my no clothing rule so buying a dress or top was out of the question too. Just when we reached the end of the street we were disappointed. We hadn't really found something that spoke to us or needed to be added to our home. As we were about to turn around and head up the opposite street, something caught my eye. It was a simple storefront with a pleasing window display and I just had to go in. Prospector Co.

Inside was a wonderful collection of simple, beautifully designed wares that really spoke to me. On the right side of the store featured various home and fashion wares from Scandinavia and Japan which I really loved. I'm a huge fan of anything from Scandinavia, especially their design, so I was immediately smitten by the sleek watches, minimal desk accessories, and delicate bottles that lined the stores shelves. But the real treasure was lying on the opposite side.

Prospector Co. Prospector Co. Prospector Co. Prospector Co., is known for their beauty wares. As I spoke with the store manager, she told me the delightful story of how Prospector Co., got its start.

Founded in 2010 by Kyle Hinton, Prospector Co., manifested itself whilst Hinton was studying at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Thanks to the creative student body at SCAD, Prospector Co., found it's niche with it's carefully curated products that range from grooming, accessories, and fragrances for men, and now women, that can make anybody look like a million dollars, for a fraction of the price.

Since it's small beginnings in 2010, Prospector Co., has it's first flagship store in the heart of downtown Savannah with plans to approach national expansion. Prospector Co., has launched a small collection of its beard oils and elixirs at Barneys' Madison Avenue flagship store in December 2014 and JCrew during the 2014 holiday season. Hopefully as the brand continues its expansion, it will take the forefront of men's and women's natural skincare.

It was so hard not to buy everything in this store. Everything smelled wonderfully and the lotion we bought, Wormwood Absinthium Cream, didn't leave a film on our hands like most lotions. Plus it fits perfectly in our bathroom! We also received a few samples to try ourselves. P was given packets of the Peary and Henson Aftershave, which left his skin feeling smoother than other brands and left a lovely mild scent on his skin. Obviously I loved it and couldn't resist giving him lots of kisses! I tried the Gwenda Hawkes Aftershave for women that tightens your pores after shaving and it really works! I shaved my legs and instead of using lotion, I used the aftershave and immediately could tell a difference. My skin looked and felt tighter plus it left a light scent as with the Peary and Henson Aftershave that was pleasant but not overwhelming.

I cannot wait to go back to Savannah sometime this summer to see what new things they have in store. Hopefully we'll have a new bigger house by then that we can stock full of wonderful candles, lotions and home goods. But, if you can't make the trip down to Savannah or New York, you can check out their website here and they ship around the country.
