Tips for Radiant Skin
1. Clean Your Face!
The first thing I always recommend to make sure your face is always looking its best is to clean it! Cleaning your skin, and yes I mean day and night, will drastically reduce the amount of blackheads, acne, and dry skin that you're experiencing. The Remington Facial Cleaning Brush has saved my life because I constantly suffer from small bumps when the season changes (thanks skin!) but when I use the daily cleaning brush it helps eliminate those issues and leaves my skin feeling well, clean! I've tried other brushes and they're just too harsh on my skin, leaving it red and even dryer than before. Not any longer with this brush! It's brush head is super soft, flexible, and I can use it in the shower. Score! That means I can incorporate it into my daily beauty routine by using it in the shower, which I'm all about saving some time!
2. Toss Out Any Old Makeup
So you've cleaned your face, it's looking fresh to death. Now what? In order to keep your face radiant and ready for spring, you've got to clean out your makeup! Did you know that makeup can go back within 6 months or less after opening it? That's crazy fast! Not to mention the amount of bacteria and other gross things that can live inside those dark, dank bottles, it's enough to make anyone freak out! Below is a quick and simple guide to when to throw out old makeup:
Face makeup: 6 months for liquids, 2-years for powders Mascara: 3 months Eyeliner and Eye Shadow: Liquid eyeliners, 3 months; cream eye shadows, 6 months; pencil eyeliners and powder eye shadows, two years Lipstick and Lip liner: Lipstick and gloss, two years; lip liner, two years or more Nail polish: One to two years Skin care: Check the expiration date on the bottles, typically 6 months to a year Sunscreen: 6 months
3. Listen to Your Mother, Use SPF!
Remember when you were a kid and you're mother always told you to wear SPF? Well she's not wrong! Mothers are great for passing down invaluable beauty lessons and this is one I always swear by. Reduce the amount of damage caused not just from the sun but from harsh chemicals in the air by wearing SPF. Most facial creams have SPF in them which is fantastic! I typically wear 15 SPF for every day use like going to work, running errands, or hanging outside with friends.
But if I know that I'll be outside for more than a few hours, I try to make sure I use a facial cream with around 20 SPF so I know that my face is totally protected! Wearing SPF isn't just great for protecting your face against the sun but it can also help reduce premature aging, lower skin cancer risks, and helps enhance the healthiness of your skin.
If there's one thing we can always do more of is hydrate. Drinking water every day has amazing benefits for your body, not just your face. I mean, Beyonce drinks a gallon of water a day, so clearly she's on to something! I always try to have a water bottle on hand at all times during the day. I can tell when I haven't had enough water too! My body feels dry and even my eyes feel less hydrated. How crazy is that?!
If you're struggling with consuming enough water every day, try purchasing a cute water bottle that'll make you want to drink more every day. I love my S'well bottle and carry it everywhere! Whenever it's empty, I immediately refill it and consume around 3-4 bottles of water every day. Plus, help save the planet by using reusable water bottles rather than using plastic ones!
