What to Wear for Thanksgiving Dinner
One of my favorite holidays is right around the corner, Thanksgiving! Each year we make the trek up to Maryland to spend the Thanksgiving holidays with P's parents, and I love attending Thanksgiving with his family.
It's loud, chaotic, and full of good food! His dad's side of the family, who we often enjoy the day with, is Italian so we can always expect a hearty helping of traditional Thanksgiving food and traditional Italian dishes like lasagna, eggplant parmesan, pastas, and desserts. P's family always receives an enormous amount of pies from a local bakery and they're all so heavenly!
So with the best eating day of the year coming up, we obviously need to chat about what to wear! We typically keep Thanksgiving day fairly casual but we do like to dress up a little bit since we're with family and we like to get a few pictures with each other.
One of my all-time favorite outfits to wear for Thanksgiving is a skirt, with a very stretchable waist, and a simple button up shirt. It's cute, effortless, and gives me lots of room to stretch out after eating a few dishes prepared by P's family.
I love this pleated leather skirt and I've been dying for one for years! It's only recently that I found one that I truly love. It's the right length, not too short or too long, stretchable, and looks insanely cute on! I love that it's easy to dress up or down so if I needed to make it more casual, I could. The weather in Maryland is going to be a lot colder than Charleston, it was recently in the mid-70s over the weekend, so I'll be swapping out my button up chambray shirt with a heavier sweater to keep warm.
In case you need a few tips for your Thanksgiving day outfit, I've got a few key pointers that'll help you look cute and comfortable for the day's events.
1. Wear Comfortable Fabrics
Whether that's a loose jersey knit dress or leggings with a tunic, wear fabrics that are made of a comfortable material, my favorite being a bamboo cotton weave, and allow for optimum stretching!
2. Embrace Fall Colors!
Fall has some of the best colors to wear, so embrace them! Break out your burgundys, gold, taupe, brown, and mustard colored clothing to make a seasonally appropriate outfit!
3. Add Accessories for Extra Glam
If you're going to a more casual affair this year, add a bit more glam to your outfit by wearing a statement necklace or earrings.
4. Play with Tights
Tights have become one of my favorite accessories to use over the years. At one point, I had a whole box just devoted to tights! Now I've paired it down to some of my favorites, but you can really bring a dress or skirt to life with some fun, printed tights. Some of my favorites are here, here, and here.
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving this week! I'd love to hear what outfit you plan on wearing and what your favorite dish you enjoy. You won't believe this, but I really love green been cassarol, it's so good and I eat way too much each year!
